Renewed Life for Greyhounds
Finding forever homes for retired racing greyhounds
Check Your Vet
Veterinarians are a special group of professionals, who spend many years in study and intensive training, and should possess patience, trust, and compassion. We believe the following can help you determine who your veterinarian will be:
Referrals from family and friends, making certain that the person who is referring knows about routine procedures, surgery, and hospital stays.
Tour the clinic, when convenient for you and the staff. A tour should never be denied to you. The clinic should look and smell clean. Observe staff to see if they are affectionate with pets, knowledgeable about the needs of different breeds, as well as courteous to you and others.
Medical licenses should be displayed or available for you to see. Most states have boards charged with the responsibility of protecting you and your animals through enforcement of state laws governing the practice of veterinary medicine. A list of state licensing boards is found here: http://www.aavsb.org/DLR/DLR.aspx In Michigan, you can contact the Department of Community Health here: http://www.cis.state.mi.us/free/default.asp?profession=veterinarian
